For your information a "Tool Eye" is nothing more than a normally closed switch, with a resistor in series, to prevent any damage to your control board should any electrical short occur. The simple method to check your tool eye is to disconnect it from your machine, place a ohm-meter across the wires. It should read around 3,000 ohms, exercise the the plungers and you will see the meter go to an open circuit. If there is any sticking you will see the meter not move or not reset to 3,000 ohms. The newer Mazak's have a control board that used a small relay that the tool eye latches. In that case you will not see any resistance from the tool eye. Before sending any unit back please check to make sure you do not have a wiring or control board issue. In any case you can see what your tool eye is doing if you place a meter across the wires, but they must be disconnected from the machine !
